With Mercian heading into its 80th year, Derby County was also celebrating its own important milestone this year: the 50th anniversary of their 1975 1st division championship title. Mercian wished to help mark both occasions by building a special one-off bike dedicated to this monumental win.
The bike was donated to the Derby County Community Trust (DCCT), who held a fundraiser during July. Generating almost £4000 for the many charities they support, Adrian Montague was the lucky winner. Adrian was presented with the bike at Derby’s first home game of the season, pictured below with Emma Pilgrim from the DCCT.
This handmade classic road bike was built using our Superlight model, Mercians flagship race bike back in the 1970’s as it was the lightest frame in our stable. Decorated in Derby County colours and badges, with the names of the manager and squad wrapped around the seat post in the Mercian ‘barber pole’ style, fonts from the 1970’s era were used to complete the classic look.
A true one-of-one bike. Crafted in Derby, for Derby.
