After six decades Mercian Cycles workshop has moved.

Through the years there were a number of locations in Derby for the shop, the frame building workshop and sprayshop. But since about 1965 the frame building and painting was taking place at the Pontefract Street workshop.

Cara Grimwade is soon to take on one of the most extreme ‘triathlons’ we have heard of.

Framebuilder Tim took the chance to head out on the Ventura All-road bike to go and pick up some dropouts from Bear Frame Supplies. An ideal opportunity to capture some video of the custom steel Ventura out on the gravel trails of the Derbyshire Peak District.

To help mark our 80th year, we’re proudly supporting British para-cyclist Calum O’Neill on his journey to LA 2028 with a custom-built Mercian trike.

Dave’s custom Ventura Allroad – built for his Paris-to-Nice charity ride and dedicated to his son, Conor – has already raised over €21,000 for mental health charity Aware.

As you can see i've built it for a more comfortable ride Got a mix of shimano mainly LX, 105 etc. I've also used a system-x adjustable stem that is great, and my trusty B

Here is a series of my collection.  I bought my first Merican, an Olympic, in 1971.  Sold that one and bought a Professional in 1972.  Then I had my first Mercian built for me in 1973.  It was a Viggorelli, which got stolen en route.  The replacement arrived in early 1974.  I still have that bike. 

 It did 750 miles in August & September including a PB of 53.1 mph on the road to the Scotsman's Pack in Hathersage on the second ride.

‘Return of the King'.  My King of Mercia on Offa's Dyke in mid Wales. Bought in 1994 and still looking and riding as well today as when it was rolled out of the showroom.
