After six decades Mercian Cycles workshop has moved.

Through the years there were a number of locations in Derby for the shop, the frame building workshop and sprayshop. But since about 1965 the frame building and painting was taking place at the Pontefract Street workshop.

Cara Grimwade is soon to take on one of the most extreme ‘triathlons’ we have heard of.

Framebuilder Tim took the chance to head out on the Ventura All-road bike to go and pick up some dropouts from Bear Frame Supplies. An ideal opportunity to capture some video of the custom steel Ventura out on the gravel trails of the Derbyshire Peak District.

To help mark our 80th year, we’re proudly supporting British para-cyclist Calum O’Neill on his journey to LA 2028 with a custom-built Mercian trike.

Dave’s custom Ventura Allroad – built for his Paris-to-Nice charity ride and dedicated to his son, Conor – has already raised over €21,000 for mental health charity Aware.

Leigh called into the shop the other day to pick up his Round the world frame. He is building it up over the weekend and we should have a picture of the complete bike sometime next week. We had Pat visit us today to show us his Vincitore track bike which his dad ordered from Mercian in 1958. The frame has recently been sprayed by us in 1996. As you see its been well looked after over the years with a few equipment upgrades. Pat's dad Stewart also had 2 King of Mercia cycles.

Hi There, I recently took delivery of a Mercian 853o/s Pro Lugless frameset and have finally finished building it into a complete bike. I waited until I had done this before giving you guys some feedback. I rode the bike up and down Hartside near Penrith and Alston this morning for its first ride. Q
